Post Epic Fantasy Reading List
I know no one comes here anymore, but I thought about the people I'd actually want answers from on this, and Facebook just seemed like a bad idea. So! I'm putting together a list of must-read epic fantasy series, mostly for myself. I'm hoping to cap it at 10. I'm looking for suggestions or edits.

Stuff I've already read that I think belong on it (in no particular order):

Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien
His Dark Materials, Philip Pullman
Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling
The Once and Future King, T. H. White
Chronicles of Narnia, C. S. Lewis

Stuff I'm in the middle of or intend to read that I think belong on it, at least so far:

Dark Tower, Stephen King
Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin
Abarat, Clive Barker

Things I read or was in the middle of a long time ago that may belong on it:

Mordant's Need, Stephen R. Donaldson
Dragonriders of Pern, Anne McCaffrey

That's 10. Comments? Additions? Subtractions? Even if no one replies, this is at least a good place to organize my thoughts. :)

Also: I'm trying to stay true to the "epic fantasy" genre. There are plenty of wonderful one-shot novels out there, or series that are sort of fantasy, or are really trying to do something else (probably arguably some things I put on this list, so criticisms also welcome).

The Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy was written by a giant gnome. They're not bad, so far. Last book won't be out till 2013, so take your time with 'em--which won't be hard, since they're really long.

Also, if you've never read Neverending Story, add that to the list.

The Never Ending Story was excellent, but is more just a single story than an epic series. :)

True... unless they made novelizations of the shitty movie sequels. I'm almost afraid to check if that happened.

ALSO: Maybe look into Diana Wynne Jones books. I know there are at least three Howl's Moving Castle books.
