|Post subject:||A rites of passage book mentioning the Gulf war|
When I was about 11/ 12 years old, I remember reading and loving a short book that I have suddenly had a hankering to read again. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name, author, or many details... any guesses would really help!
I remember it being written in first person, and it was centred around a teenage girl whose father (I think) either fought in the Gulf war in the past OR was currently fighting in it. I feel like the story was a kind of rites of passage/ bildungaroman. The girl went to school and read books and I seem to remember that she was often reflecting on things.
It was a paperback, and this probably isn't helpful but I remember the color green - whether that was the color of the book or a prominent color talked about in the book (did she wear a green parka?) I don't remember.
I know it's not a lot to go off but ANY suggestions as to what this book could possibly be will really help! I believe it would have been written between 1990 - 2008... thank you!
