I thought the southern oracle was the one he talked to who was falling apart, not the one with laser-eyes.

Also, apparently the horse really did die in that scene in the swamp, as the lifts failed.

Yep! Fixified.

That horse went on to Mrs. Robertson's 2nd grade art class where he was messily consumed with about a pound of glitter by various rowdy younglings.

The Southern Oracle was blue.

From the movie (I haven't held a copy of the book in over 10 years):
Atreyu looks through the telescope at the golden sphinxes of the Great Stone Gateway.
Atreyu: Is that the Southern Oracle?
Engywook: No! It's the first of the two gates you must pass through before you reach the Southern Oracle...

Cats, you've destroyed one of my longest-held childhood illusions. From the first time I saw the movie at age 5 until I was nearly 13, I cried every time Artax died. I was only consoled a little because my aunt assured me, the first time I watched it, that the horse never really died. Next you're going to tell me that they really shot Ole Yeller, right?

Hey, I felt the same way when I found out! To this day that scene makes me misty eyed.

Cats! I weep! Seriously, same. I am getting a tear on right now as we speak. Nahco thinks it's funny. Horrid horrid man that he is.

On an unrelated but equally sad note, some people came into the Animal Shelter while I was helping out there Saturday and donated a flat-full of medicinal dog food for treatment of urinary infections. It seems that their dog, whom they had taken with them in the back of their pick-up truck to buy said food, lept from the truck-bed and was immediately run over by the vehicle behind them. It died instantly, and they came to donate the food directly thereafter. They had just spent enough money on special dog food to feed an Asian child for a year, all on an animal they didn't care about enough to restrain.

There needs to be some kind of punishment for humans who needlessly put the animals that trust them in such dangerous positions. I live in the American South, so everytime I go somewhere someone has their dogs in the back of a truck or on the drivers' lap. Those people need to be dragged behind their vehicles while their animals drive! It would be like Toonces but so much better.

They cared so much for their dog that its happiness superceded their wishes for its safety.

Next question?

Artax really died? Thats so fucked up. My mom had to do the same thing with me Caligo and tell me he actually lived, I must've cried my ass off the first couple of times I saw that movie.

Okay, but to my question: What is up with movie stars and small ugly dogs?
I don't get it, they shake and shiver incessently. They all have bulging eyes, and are wearing dog jewelry and doggy booties. These are the largest waste of money. Also it really does look like their sticking their thumbs up said dogs ass in every picture I see.

EDITED: Sentence Structure.
