Happy Easter, everyone! Even if you're a Jew; Jesus couldn't have done it without you. ;)

This is the first Easter I can think of that I haven't spent with family (they're all in Hawaii without me right now), and it's kind of bugging me. I'm not a very religious person, and when I was a kid it was certainly all about painting eggs and eating chocolate. But now that I'm older, these kinds of things always boil down in my head to spending time with my family--focusing on the good things and forgiving the bad. It's been a much more personal thing than a broad religious holiday.

For as much as I don't buy into the supposed meanings of Christian holidays in general, I didn't realize how much it would bother me to make it just another day.

It's always just another day in my house, we save the crazy for Halloween or Christmas, but oddly never both. The only thing that's special about a holiday in my house is the chocolate. Now birthdays are another matter. Two words. FUCKING.MAYHEM.

Yeah, I love that.

It was only this year that I found out exactly how the egg thing came into it.

I'm always late for these thoughtful threads. Only old posts where there once were vaginal eggs. To the poetry-mobile.
