Post The New X-Men movie
Have we seen it? What do we think?
(Warning, possible spoilers below)

Is this a fitting end to a decent trilogy?
Did they go way too far?
Did the Brotherhood end up looking far too much like the cast of West-Side Story?
Who else wants all of Famke Janssen's wardrobe?

Pffft, I've not seen it yet. I will, however, be going to the pictures this evening, and I believe I may be dragged along. So I'll use this post as a placeholder and tell you what I thought tomorrow or later, if applicable.

Tell me, though: is it good/bad enough that I should be especially pushed about seeing or not seeing it?

It really depends on your view of the X-Men universe, and who your favourite characters* are.

I'd say it's worth going to see, either way, yes.

* Just bloody love this pic

I haven't seen it yet, though I plan to next Friday. I would tonight, but Ryuuko and I are going to head to a Ren Faire on Sunday, and want to keep what money we have now for that.

Or perhaps I'll just make a new post.

Sorry Flex; it was sold out last night. It didn't occur to us to book in advance. Ah well, I'll probably see at some point soon enough.

No problem, munkyman.
I know you tried your best.

I'm just dying to discuss it with someone, so go see it soon!

[edited to add: Wait til the end of the credits. I didn't, but I've discovered that it's worth the wait]

I've been told from several people I usually consider reliable sources on such matters that it is a travesty of the worst kind, and the director should be drawn and quartered.

So, it's probably a good thing for me that I didn't wait til the end then. I'm afraid to look it up on line, now, though.
Did you find out what happens, at all?

Ok, I see'd it today. I also stayed to watch the bit after the credits, and yes: the director deserves some form of Medieval torture.

Go to this page to decode it. The BBCode doesn't work now, but fuck that. So the quote isn't in its own little box. Whatever. You can just imagine where I would've added emphasis. You'll live.

Obviously I haven't thought about it all much yet, these are merely my first impressions.

See how good I am to you all?

Does anybody know if the code to obscure spoilers works on this board, and if so, what it is? I'd like not to ruin the film for anyone.

All fixed! Now your poor innocent eyes will not be burned out of your skull when I reveal that: Qhzoyrqber xvyyf Fancr! Ununununun! Jnvg-- gung'f abg evtug...

There's a link to a decoder in the spoiler header of my big ass motherfucker post, if you missed it.

Flick:
If you don't want to know what happens after the credits, don't decode the first or third paragraph. The second paragraph deals with my feelings about the scene, but you might be able to work what happened from it. Some of the later bits might not make as much sense though.
Anyhow, you wanted discussion? You got's it.

I liked it. It wasn't great, but it was good. More action than the last but the story and the dialogue suffered terribly from the time constraints. There were also some pretty dodgy effects, but overall, I enjoyed. The Moira (Munky- Not a nurse, a seriously big character) bit at the end made me giddy. Big love for Xavier coming! Also, if anyone believes this is the last one, they're silly. Just silly. Have you seen the numbers? There's no way they're putting this cash cow out to pasture.

No damn way it can top Maccad's director's cut.

Hm, you're right there, five. I was watching the God of Film Critics; Jonathon Ross the other night, and he had Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry on. (The line "You know, Halle, I almost bit you once" will be with me for some time to come). Berry says very few useful things, but she did point out the same thing. I had heard before I saw the movie that this was, in fact meant to to be the last one, and after seeing what happened during the movie, I had to wonder how they were going to make another fully Team X type movie after this.

I had missed the bit at the end, however (Thanks, Munky, but I had read your post already, and am not disappointed I did) and Hugh Jackman since has pointed out that a series of Wolverine movies, and (I've heard) Magneto ones too are likely on the cards.

This makes me smile, but I hope they don't try to turn Wolvie into even more of a female fantasy than they already have. Let's try to keep that 3rd dimension of his alive, I say!

Hmm...Hugh Jackman is delicious. Honestly, I think he's the only reason I went to go see those movies (1-2, haven't seen 3 yet). Movies based off comic books are so disappointing, *cough* Spiderman sucked *cough* but not as bad as movies based off hit television series. I never had any high hopes though, so I'll probably enjoy it. I'll come back to discuss when I see it.
