Post Name that pet
Okay, not really a pet, but seeing as I've decided to put off the decision to get a good and proper pet, I've decided to name the toad that likes to hang out on my front porch at night. (We will assume for the sake of this naming, that the toad is a he, because the toad looks like a he to me)

The toad is short and squat, yellow with black spots, and while it will move about if it's in my way, it doesn't ever feel threatened enough by me to actually leave my porch when I go out there.

So, does anyone have any good names for my new friend?

Porchmonkey.

Because, you know, it's coming back. Or something.

I plan on using the name so I can converse properly with him, hopefully without getting my ass kicked.

I'll keep that one on the backburner in case nothing slightly more suitable comes along.

Dominar Rigel XVI

Potential nicknames:
Sparky
Fluffy
Buckwheat
Napoleon

Too much Farscape over the past couple days, but it would fit a toad.

Maybe Cain, after the species blamed for a lot of destruction in Australia. You could also try naming it Lilith, as an invitation for succubi to come a-callin'.

Intriguing.

Mr Perpetua.

Perpetua is a girls name, but it's fabulous, so putting Mr in front of it solves that little problem. Maybe he's confused.

Krumm could work too. Or Mittens.

I suck at names.

Give him a name appropriate to a different type of animal, ideally a cute one, then pretend not to see why that would confuse people. Imagine standing on your porch, having a "conversation" with Mittens or Fluffy or Patches or Mr. Snugglebutt or whatever you like, then having people come outside to see your new kitty/whatever. The puzzled frowns would be worth it.

I said something almost identical to that to Sancho when he said mittens was a go-to-hellable offence.
Nice to see I'm not crazy.

/me sticks her tongue out at sancho.

No, actually, you're both crazy.

Personally, and I know it's simplistic, but I'd go with "Toad" as a name. Why complicate matters by trying to give something a name with a personality that might not match?

Toad makes me think of the X-Men Evolution cartoons, and my toad doesn't fit that type of personality. I had thought of it.

I could possibly solve that by referring to him at "Mr. Toad" which gives it a more dignified air.

Still, I believe we could come up with a fitting name for a simple, quiet toad, who is curious and unafraid.

Mr Norrel.

That'd be the best toad name ever.

Gus is a good name; Calls to my mind an entity that's curious and unafraid. You might also think about Buzz.

I propose the name Wodewick. Possibly even Lord Wodewick, with a random numeral tacked onto the end.

Hm, yea. Hadn't noticed that 'Toad' connection, actually. Had been worrying more that he'd be associated with the Wind in the Willows character, but either way it doesn't work.

I do like M

I can't think Buzz without Toy Story. I'd be more inclined to go with Gus.

I'm not feeling these so far people. I know you've all got better in you, help a brotha out.
