 Walking Dead
Slightly inspired by Eth's zombie survival kit thread, I want to know if anyone is reading Walking Dead, and if not, what the hell is wrong with them.
Even if you're not generally into all things zombie, it's a fucking fantastic story. It's really focused more on the people and how they relate to each other, with zombies just being the main plot device.
I had the seventh volume shipped to me in Japan. It's just that good.

Read the first one at a friend's house. Thought it was pretty good.
I don't own any, though. Waiting for the big hardcover deelie.
The trade paperback, as I believe it's called.

Hardcover and paperback are two different things, my friend. >_o
There are currently seven TPB's out right now, at least in the US. Look for them. Damn good stuff, and only gets better as it goes on.

I managed to find torrents containing 39-42, but the big rar of 1-36 is being slow. Is it a safe book to pick up anywhere in the series?

Not as far as I can recall, no.
The first one goes to great pains to introduce the characters, and the sixth one (I think) has one of these same characters on the cover.
Which means, I assume, that there is continuity.

On the theme of zombie books, World War Z by Max Brooks deserves a mention. Top points for realism, I can't read it at night or it gives me nightmares. The same guy who did the reputed Zombie Survival Guide book.

Sancho: No, it's definitely a continuous story line, which is very intentional on the part of the author and part of what makes it so good. Dredge up those first issues somehow!
Madii: I've heard of them, heard they were good, and they've been on my reading list for a while. Which is a better read first, the Survival Guide or WWZ?

Okay, I took a long nap and it downloaded while I wasn't looking. I'm only missing 37 and 38, so I'll keep my eyes open for those (bound to turn up sooner or later).
As for World War Z, I always have this bookmarked because it keeps coming up. Click the "Listen" near the top to hear what I did on the radio last year on September 19th. People who survived World War Z call in and ask Max Brooks and the radio host questions about what to do now.

Walking dead 1-39.
I also have the Brooks books of which Madii speaks in my ebooks dir, Starrah. Was pretty damn hard to find a semi-decent version of WWZ. :|

Definitely read the Survival Book first, Starrah, it gives you a better feel for his style. I found WWZ very intense to take in all at once, but that might just be because I have a very delicate disposition.

Okay, I'm current on the WD series (up to 42) now. Fucking cliffhangers!
